RoP presents Meltdown
01/10/2011
Ridglea Theater
Fort Worth, TX
Attendance: 400
We open up to the image of Simon Sensation sitting down behind a desk. He’s wearing a three pieced suit and he’s got a grimace on his face. He sighs as he shakes his head and looks into the camera.
Simon: The last Meltdown was supposed to end 2010 with a bang. It was supposed to spearhead the march toward 2011 by this company. Final Clash and the Lethal Lottery tournament was devised by me to end one year in a big way and start another with a huge leap forward and instead, what did I get? I got embarassment from my referees and indecisiveness. That’s unacceptable, but after conferring with every referee that works for this company, I came to the inclusion that while their actions and a lack of a decision at the end of Final Clash when both Shadow and Terry Marvin went over the top rope and to the floor at ringside was frustrating, perhaps it may have been warranted.
He sighs and shakes his head.
Simon: You see, I watched the ending of that match over and over, but even I couldn’t come to a conclusion at first. But then I slowed the footage down, I had it blown up and after some very careful deliberation with the referees in this company, I came to a conclusion. So here we sit on the first Meltdown of 2011 and here I am about to announce the winner of Final Clash 2010. Screwed up, huh?
He snickers and then looks down at some papers on his desk and smirks.
Simon: And the winner of Final Clash 2010 is……………..
He pauses for dramatic effect and then runs his hand through his hair and nods once more.
Simon: “The Real Show” Terry Marvin.
He pauses again and nods.
Simon: And it’s come to my attention that things between Shadow and Terry are way out of hand. Between Terry kidnapping Paige and Shadow and his gang of buddies ready to seek Terry out and give him some vigilante justice, I feel that I need to step in and get some control of things here as the man paying the checks for the two of them. That’s why I’ve made the decision that on February 7th, in just a month when we present our first show EVE at the Playboy Mansion………
He takes a deep breath.
Simon: We will see Shadow put the Southwestern Heavyweight Championship on the line for the first time ever against Terry Marvin. This provides Terry the title shot he wants and it gives Shadow a chance at revenge after what’s been going on between the two and how much he’s gone through. It’ll no doubt be the biggest main event in Meltdown history. I can’t wait for it………
"Evolution” comes across the P.A. and Shadow walks out from the back, flanked by Paige and Cannibal. Wearing the Southwestern Heavyweight Championship and carrying a kendo stick, he leads the trio to the ring.
SP: “Well it seems the Children of the Night have acquired a new member.”
AS: “Great just what we need, more freaks.”
Shadow walks over and grabs a mic.
Shadow -”A new age has begun here in Ring of Pride. An age in which I have now taken my place at the top of the company, where I belong.”
Shadow paces about the ring as a mixed reaction from the crowd begins.
Shadow- ‘However one person more than most has tried to everything in his minute power to stall the inevitable. To attempt to lay a claim to something that is not his.”
SP: “I think we all know who he means with this.”
Shadow- “Terry Marvin. The one that thinks in his diluted mind that he should be holding my title. The one that ushered in this new metamorphosis.
AS:- “Terry Marvin should be the champion.”
Shadow- “However with this metamorphosis, comes a completely new era, as well as......”
Shadow spins around and nails Paige in the face with the kendo stick.
SP: “What the hell was that about?”
Paige is on the mat holding her face as Cannibal checks on her. He looks back up at Shadow and then back down at Paige. Shadow quickly hits him in the back of the neck.
AS: “Shadow has snapped.”
SP: “Quite an odd turn of events.”
As Cannibal starts to stand, Shadow grabs his head and drills him with the Shaded
SP: “Shaded from Shadow on the monster.”
Shadow rolls out of the ring. He climbs over the barricade into the crowd and walks away, as Cannibal and Paige get up looking at each other.
TL: The following contest is your opening contest and is set for one fall. Introducing first, on his way to the ring and making his RoP debut, Backspace!
“Gorgeous” by Kanye West hits and Backspace comes out from the back to a mixed reaction. He walks down to the ring and arrogantly climbs onto the apron and looks around at the crowd.
SP: Backspace is making his debut here. He seems to be a little odd, but we’ll see what he can do in the ring in a moment.
AS: He’s got a BIG challenge ahead of him and I mean a BIG one, Stu.
TL: And his opponent, on his way to the ring “Cannibal” John D. Timm!
“Coming Undone” by Korn begins to play as Cannibal slowly walks out from the back to a mixed reaction. He looks around at the crowd and then walks slowly down to the ring. He pauses for a moment to look at Backspace, then rolls into the ring and gets up, not taking his eyes off of his opponent as he does so.
SP: Cannibal made his debut two weeks ago during the Lethal Lottery tournament and he went all the way to the finals, believe it or not.
AS: Indeed, he made it to the battle royal and he was a force to be reckoned with. But after the attack Shadow gave him earlier, just moments ago, actually……..does he even know where he is?
The bell rings and Backspace charges at Cannibal and nails him with shot after shot and kick after kick as he backs him into his corner. He straightens Cannibal out and then nails some chops to his chest before he backs up a few steps and charges in with a clothesline. Cannibal staggers out of the corner and Backspace climbs onto the top rope. As Cannibal turns toward him, Backspace pulls him in and grabs him by the head. He then leaps off and plants Cannibal down to the mat with a tornado DDT. Cannibal is down for the moment and Backspace climbs onto him for a cover, but quickly gets thrown off. Cannibal sits up, then goes to stand up, but Backspace nails shot after shot on him.
SP: Backspace is coming out swinging here and the big guy is reeling. This is the first time since we’ve first seen Cannibal that I think he’s been in this bad of shape and hell……even on the defensive.
AS: Yeah, Backspace is really a house of fire to start things off, I just hope he don’t burn himself.
Backspace whips Cannibal into the ropes, but the big guy grabs onto the top rope and stops himself. Backspace charges at him and dropkicks him through the ropes. Cannibal tumbles onto the theater floor and then uses the ring skirting to pull himself up. Once he gets up, Backspace springs off the ropes and goes for a suicide dive through the ropes. Cannibal ends up catching him, however and somehow manages to lift Backspace up in the air before he throws him down with a toss. Backspace makes a thud against the ringside mats as Cannibal seems to find some amusement in his opponent being splattered like a bug. The crowd does a “holy shit” chant as Cannibal grabs Backspace by the head and bites his forehead, gnawing on him repeatedly.
SP: I think that Cannibal may have just thrown Backspace into next week.
AS: At least he’s closer to getting watch that Shadow and Terry Marvin match, Stu. Seriously, though, I think he may be hurt.
After biting Backspace’s forehead hard enough to draw blood, Cannibal picks him up and rolls him into the ring. He follows suit and pulls him up to his feet before he grabs him by the neck with both hands. He lifts Backspace up and then plants him with a double hand choke slam. He gets down and hooks a leg. One………..Two……….! Backspace kicks out and Cannibal seems to be a little shocked. He barks something at the referee and hooks Backspace’s leg again. One……….Two…………! Backspace kicks out again. Cannibal gets up and goes to pull him to his feet, but Backspace nails some shots to his midsection. Cannibal manages to nail some clubbing blows to the back of Backspace’s head. He the grabs him by the arm and whips him into the ropes. He goes for a clothesline and Backspace ducks and springs off the other side of the ring. He goes for a backfist on him and Backspace ducks that.
SP: Backspace may have an opening here, Artie. The big man has missed two shots n a row.
AS: Yeah, but what in the hell can Backspace do to take him down?
Backspace springs off the ropes again and slides between Cannibal’s legs. Cannibal manages to just barely catch him, though and grabs him around the neck with his hand. He lifts him up and goes for a choke slam, but Backspace manages to grab his arm, drop down and flip the big man over with an arm drag. Cannibal gets up and Backspace charges into the corner and leaps up going for a monkey flip, but Cannibal catches him and nails a spine buster on him that makes it sound like a gun went off in the arena. Cannibal gets up and waits for Backspace to make it to his feet slowly. When he turns, Cannibal grabs him and goes for a power bomb. Backspace manages to use the momentum that Cannibal gave him by lifting him up against him with a face buster. He gets to his feet and with the big man down, climbs up the nearest corner. He hesitates for a moment before he comes off and nails a guillotine leg drop!
SP: THE SAFE HAVEN!
Backspace hooks the legs of the big man and the ref gets down to count. One………Two………Three!
TL: Here is your winner, BACKSPACE!
AS: He did it, he managed to take down the big man and earn a big win here in his debut, though I think Backspace may owe an assist to the Shaded that Shadow gave the big man moments before their match!
We can see Shadow standing in the back with Simon.
Simon- “What the hell was that all about?”
Shadow- “Changes”
Simon- “So the real question is this. Which one of you is going to have to find a new partner for my tag team finals?”
Shadow- “She can get a partner and deal with that. I have more important things to concern myself with, other then a trivial title.”
Shadow walks away as Simon begins to say something.
TL: The following contest is a tag match and its set for one fall.
“Insanity” hits the sound system and out from the back walks Marty Valens and Christopher O’Toole. Valens jukes and jives as he gets down to the ring with his guitar around his neck. O’Toole, on the other hand, hops into the ring and gets onto the middle rope.
TL: Introducing team number one, Marty “The Party” Valens and “Cute” Christopher O’Toole, The All Night Dance Party!
AS: Valens showed some promise two weeks ago during the Lethal Lottery tournament, but unfortunately he got saddled with two morons for tag partners.
MG: It wasn’t that, Artie. His team was a man down because him and his group of cronies took out Levinator before the match and hell, they even took out Dillon after the match.
“Kashmir” hits and Stu-E Price walks out from the back with Sofia by his side to cheers. He makes his way down to the ringside area and pauses there as he eyes Valens and O’Toole in the ring.
TL: And team number two, first from Darlington, England…….Stu-E Price!
AS: Stu formed this alliance with Deas just recently. Dillon was meant to be a part of it, but as we know, Dillon’s no longer here.
MG: It could have been the attack from Valens and company that sent Dillon packing or it could been a pre-emptive strike from the front office to end whatever Stu’s got going here before it even begins. We’ll probably never know, really.
“Why I Sing the Blues” starts to play now and the crowd cheers as Bryan Deas walks slowly out from the back and makes his way down to ringside, chatting with Stu for a few moments before they both slide into the ring.
TL: And his partner, from Hollywood, California…..”Ballistic” Bryan Deas!
AS: Deas is looking to find himself some success alongside Stu here. While I dig Stu, I don’t think Deas could find anything even with a GPS.
MG: Heh, he’s shown flashes of brilliance as of late but can it lead to anything big is the question?
As the bell rings, O’Toole rushes across the ring and nails some shots on Deas. He pulls Deas out into the middle of the ring and nails some clubbing blows on him before he whips him into the ropes and arm drags him over. Deas gets to his feet and O’Toole dropkicks him and sends him into the ropes and over them. Deas lands on the floor and gets to his feet just as O’Toole rushes into a corner, springs off the middle rope and somersaults over the ropes onto him.
AS: Huge leap of faith from the Irishman and Deas finds himself basically just the whipping boy of his opponents here early on.
MG: Isn’t that how it usually goes?
O’Toole gets up and rolls Deas into the ring. He gets onto the apron and then slingshots himself over the ropes with a leg drop across Deas’ throat. He gets on Deas and goes for a cover. One………Two…….! Deas kicks out at the last moment. O’Toole pulls Deas up and whips him into the corner. When Deas settles, O’Toole takes off running after him, but Deas gets out of the way and O’Toole collides with the corner. He stumbles out into the middle of the ring and Deas charges out and grabs his head for a big bulldog. With both men down, they start to make their way over to their corners in an attempt to tag in their partners. Deas reaches Stu first with a giant lunge and O’Toole reaches Valens. They both come into the ring with Valens going for a huge clothesline on Stu, but Stu ducks, then grabs Valens from behind and nails a huge german suplex on him. Valens gets up slowly and when he turns around, Stu reels him in and nails a brain buster. He gets down and hooks a leg. One……….Two! Valens kicks out.
AS: The man from music row kicks out and Stu’s on a roll here, Mick. Even though he only got a two count, I don’t think I’ve seen him this fired up and into a match in a while.
MG: Maybe, but Marty and Christopher O’Toole aren’t pushovers and he has to be careful. We saw last Meltdown that Marty will do anything to get the upper hand.
Stu gets up and pulls Marty to his feet. He nails several knife edged chops to his chest, sending Marty reeling back against the ropes. Stu grabs him and front suplexes him across the top rope before he backs up a few steps and goes for a running knee lift. Mart slides onto the apron and Stu catches nothing but air. Stu turns to face him and Marty reaches into the ring, raking Stu in the eyes before he drops him throat first across the top rope. Stu falls back onto the mat and Valens slides into the ring and lays some kicks into him. Deas goes to get in the ring and referee Richard Dent blocks him, telling him he’s not the legal man. This allows O’Toole to come into the ring and grab one of Stu’s feet. Valens grabs the other and they nail a wishbone that causes Stu to grab his groin in pain. Valens picks him up as the ref manages to get Deas out and turns to face them and snap suplexes Stu back. He gets up and tags in O’Toole, who somersaults over the ropes and splashes onto Stu. He gets on him and makes the cover. One……….Two! Deas is in to break it up!
AS: Deas may have just saved his team the match, but look at Valens. These two really know how to work the ref’s blind spot, don’t they?
MG: Indeed they do and I can’t say Deas didn’t help himself any by just rushing in the ring there.
The ref gets Deas back to his corner and as he does, O’Toole lifts Stu up and shoves him into Marty’s boot as he lifts it up on the top rope. Stu stumbles back and O’Toole nails a fall away reverse DDT on him. With Stu down, O’Toole goes over to the ropes and climbs to the apron. He jumps up and goes for a springboard 450 splash, but Stu rolls out of the way and O’Toole crashes and burns! The fans are clapping and starting a “let’s go Stu” chant as he tries to crawl into his corner and tag in Deas. O’Toole holds onto his gut as he gets up and stumbles against the ropes. Valens tags himself in and rushes into the ring as Stu reaches out and just barely misses out tagging in Deas. Valens pulls him back into the ring and drops an elbow across his back. He then gets up and grins as he looks down at Stu. He springs off the ropes and goes for a knee drop on Stu, but he rolls out of the way. Valens gets up holding his leg and as he does so, Stu’s using the ropes to pull himself up. Valens staggers toward him and Stu springs to life, nailing a Price Tag that rocks Marty to his core and takes him down as well. Stu crawls toward Deas looking for a tag. He reaches out and just manages to tag in Deas as O’Toole is in and grabs his leg.
AS: O’Toole was just a little late and here comes Deas looking like a house on fire, Mick!
MG: I wouldn’t know what a house on fire looks like, contrary to what my ex may say. Here comes the Ballistic one and there goes O’Toole!
Deas clotheslines O’Toole down and as Marty gets up, lifts him up and plants him down with a spine buster that shakes the ring. Deas gets up and O’Toole is up on the middle rope, he leaps off looking for something but Deas grabs him by the neck and plants him with a giant choke slam! The fans are going nuts as Deas screams and beats on his chest to pump himself up, but it’s short lived as Valens nails him with a low blow from behind. Deas staggers forward into the ropes as Valens makes it to his feet. Just as he does so, Stu spins him around and nails a Stun Cutter on him! The crowd goes ape shit! Valens gets on his hands and knees and seems to be trying to get up to little success. Deas sprints across the ring at this and nails an Ending It All punt kick to Valens to knock him over and out as Stu nails a British Pound to O’Toole in the corner. Deas hooks Valens’ leg and goes for the cover. One……….Two………..Three!
TL: Here are your winners, BRYAN DEAS AND STU-E PRICE, THE BUSINESS!
AS: Holy shit, what an end to the match! Stu nails a Stun Cutter and a British Pound and Deas nailed his punt kick, what an exclamation point to end this match!
MG: I don’t think that Valens and O’Toole did too bad in defeat, but what a win for The Business. No pun intended, but I think it would be safe to say that they mean business!
At the end of the match, Stu-E rolls out of the ring and goes underneath it. He comes out the other side with a beer cooler in his hands, the crowd start cheering at the sight of the alcohol, while Bryan Deas just looks bemused as Christopher O' Toole and Marty Valens regain their composure.
'England's Favourite Wrestler' tosses a beer to Deas, and take a microphone out of the cooler.
Stu-E: "Like I said to you two, this shit wasn't personal it was all about business. So come on, drag yourselves up and have a beer!"
The tag team return to their feet, stepping away from Deas and Price before coming to a stop at the ropes. For a brief moment they look at each other unsure what to do. Stu-E gives up waiting and casually tosses two beers over at them, which they catch and cautiously open them.
There's an awkward pause from both teams before they start drinking but as they do, Dillon D'Angelo's theme hits! O' Toole and Valens spin around to look at the rampway which gives Deas enough time to hurl his beer towards the back of Valens' head!
But he misses!
Valens spins around and is taken over the top rope with a vicious big boot to the face while O' Toole doesn't get a chance to react, the victim of a Stun Cutter! Stu-E even keeps his beer in his hand!
